2020 Air Jordan Retro 1 High OG "Mocha"

  • Dallas, Texas United States (map)

Update: This release was insane. Demand was crazy and only grew after pairs sold-out. Will the Air Jordan 1 “Mocha” go down as one of the more memorable Jordan 1s to drop? I definitely think so.

If you took an “L” on release day, you can still get pairs here on eBay!

I’m going to keep it a buck and say, for the record, that I like the “Dark Mocha” AJ1 a LOT better than the OG Travis Scott 1s.

Materials

Air Jordan 1 “Mocha”

When it comes this shoe’s materials, Jordan brand has opted to go with a premium mix of materials that include much of what we’ve seen before on Air Jordan 1s.

  • Smooth Leather/Suede Upper

  • Classic Nylon Tongue Tongue

  • Textile Sock-liner

  • Traditional Jordan 1 Rubber Outsole

Early reviews of the shoe show the leather and suede to be of decent quality, with a smoother leather texture being used as opposed to the “tumbled” that some folks mistakenly associate with higher quality.

Color Blocking

Air Jordan 3 “Laser Orange” back heel

It’s no surprise that this shoe draws comparisons to the 2019 Air Jordan 1 Travis Scott, however, I’m convinced that the color-blocking on the “Dark Mocha” is 10xs better.

In my opinion, the black, sail, and dark mocha colors come together to create a near-perfect trio, and the color placement is executed flawlessly. By placing more black to the front portions of the shoe and reserving the “dark mocha” to only the back heel, the shoe becomes more wearable compared to the TS AJ1.

All in all, the sneaker’s “black toe” vibe makes this an instant must-cop for all and the sneakers vague resemblance to the TS shoe increases its hype-factor up to insance hypebeast levels.

Release Predictions

You already know the drill when it comes to the AJ1s releases and especially one of this caliber. Don’t expect to be able to walk into a store on release day and snag a pair.

Brick-n-mortar retailers like Footlocker, Footaction, Champs, & Finishline will de distributing this shoe via app-raffles, but expect stores like Jimmy Jazz and Shoe Palace to do in-store ticket raffles starting the week of the release and ending on Wednesday or Thursday.

Copping online may be next to impossible without the help of a bot, but Nike SNKRS may be your best shot. Expect the shoes to drop online at 10am EST on all US sites where they’ll be available.

Bonafide/wannabe sneakerheads and resellers alike will ALL be going after these tough and that should keep the resell price above $300 on release day.

Resell Predictions

Although early stock rumors suggest that there will be over 200,000 pairs in circulation, you can bet your bottom dollar that resell prices for the AJ1 “Dark Mocha” will remain healthy due to the high demand.

Although resell prices for most sneakers dipping 1-2 weeks after the release, don’t expect these to go drop too far. If you take the “L” at retail. Don’t wait too long to scoop these up after launch as resell prices generally spike around the Christmas & Tax Seasons.
