First Impressions & Predictions:
the shoe
The Air Jordan 1 has easily been Jordan Brands most popular silhouette for the last past few years and for good reason. It’s the iconic shoe that started it all back in 1985 and has proven to withstand the test of time.
With that being said, maintaining that legacy and heritage does come at a cost.
Since its original debut, not much has changed with the shoe’s outdated midsole technology….Until now!
The Air Jordan 1 “Zoom” comes remastered with a Zoom Air insole that aims to improve this shoes on foot comfort. The rest of the shoe takes on a unique design as well, with the entire shoe’s upper being comprised of 3M material.
Other small changes include the lettering on the back heel, icy outsole, and Zoom Air tag on the tongue that replaces the Nike Air that appears on High OG iterations.
my opinion
I’m not a huge fan of the shoe’s materials, but I applaud Jordan brand for deciding to upgrade the cushioning of the Jordan 1 without changing its overall look.
The addition of the Zoom Air unit helps Jordan Brand justify the $175 price tag, but still a bit more than what I’d like to pay a shoe that just isn’t aesthetically pleasing, in my opinion.
release and resell predictions
I think a lot of people who are fans of the Jordan 1 probably share my sentiments when it comes to not liking the overall look of the shoe.
However, the curiosity for seeing how much better the shoe feels on foot will probably push skeptics over the edge to cop the shoe.
With that being said, I would expect for the smaller sizes to sell-out on release day, while larger sizes may linger on shelves.
Resell values will be poor and the most profit may come if you’re able to sell early before the official release.
As with most Air Jordan 1s, sizes under 10M will maintain a higher value in the secondary market and will eventually increase in value over time.
