The Air Jordan 3’s Backstory
The Air Jordan 3 is a retro basketball shoe from Jordan Brand that originally released back in 1988. The shoe was revolutionary for its time and was the first Jordan silhouette to feature both “elephant print” panels and an exposed Nike air unit.
Fast forward to 2020 and Jordan Brand is taking things back to MJ’s collegiate basketball days with this Retro 3 iteration that include hits of the University of North Carolina’s team colors.
Materials And Color-blocking
When it comes this shoe’s materials, early photos suggest that this shoe features the traditional mix of Retro 3 materials including:
Tumbled Leather
Smooth Leather
Perforated Leather
Grey/Black Elephant Print
As far as the colors, the shoe’s upper is all white, with the only hits of color appearing on the usual elephant print panels, and “Carolina Blue” appearing around the lace area, tongue, and midsole.
Release and Resell Predictions
The last few Jordan 3 releases dating back to 2019 haven’t been huge hits, however, something tells me the UNCs will end up selling a lot better.
Although it’s not an OG colorway, not many “UNC” colorways have been released lately on any silhouette. Also, this release closely resembles the PE Version of the shoe, so I’m predicting that all of this will cause an increase in demand.
Nothing suggests that these will be a limited release, so expect them to be available at most major retailers on a first-come, first-served basis.
When it comes to resell, don’t expect for there to be much profit to be made on this shoe, but you might be able to squeeze a few bucks out of this release if you’re able to use in-store coupons and buy the shoe below retail.
If anything changes before the release, I’ll be sure to let you know, but until then. subscribe below to receive periodic updates on all the latest sneaker releases.
