Sneaker Release Recap
“Candy Cane Reign”
Much to my surprise, the Air Jordan 14 “Candy Cane/Rip Hamilton” did numbers on Saturday, April 6 for the retail price of $190. Just a couple hours after release, most of the major retailers were sold-out of the shoes online and in-store.
In last week’s show, I predicted that the shoe wouldn’t be that hard to get, but now I stand corrected in shock and amazement. This weekend, this shoe proved to reign supreme.
Cop on restock: If you missed out on the initial release, I suspect that popular retailers will restock more pairs sometime this week, so I recommend you stay on high alert for updates from Twitter pages such as Solelinks.
Bodega x New Balance Raffle Release
Later in the week, we got another unexpected update that the much anticipated collaboration between Bodega and New Balance will now be released via and online raffle on BDGASTORE.COM as opposed to the original first-come first-served style release.
Bodega’s website stated the following as an explanation..
If you’re interested in this potential “Sneaker Of The Year” candidate, head over to the BDGASTORE to enter the raffle and cross your fingers.
The 990v5: A Temporary Online Exclusive
As expected, the latest iteration of New Balance’s hallowed 990 silhouette, released on April 6 for $175, but with a minor caveat.
The sneaker was not made available online at major retailer websites, but only on New Balance’s website. On the bright side, a select number of brick and mortar stores across the country did receive the shoes to sell immediately.
If you’re interested in purchasing or trying on the sneaker, call your local shoe store to check if they have them in stock. Also, there’s no word when other online retailers will have the sneakers available for online purchase. As always, follow us on social media via @theretroinsider for the latest updates.
Upcoming Releases For April: Week 2
NIKE AIR MAX 1 (MISSING LINK)
Retail Price: $170
Size Run: Men’s
Colorway: N/A
Style Code: N/A
Region: US
Purchase: Nike SNKRS
The Info:
The Air Max 1 (MIssing Link) is a shoe based on the main character in the upcoming animated film, Missing Link, that will debut the same day that this sneaker is released.
The shoe is comprised of a variety of premium materials, that I assume are closely tied to the film in some way. Because of the shoes premium aesthetic, the retail price for this sneaker is $170, which makes it more expensive than the normal Air Max 1 release.
If you’re looking to get your hand on this sneaker, be aware that the shoe drops at 9am CST, via the Nike SNRKS App.
Air Jordan 1 High OG (Crimson Tint)
Retail Price: $ 160
Size Run: Mens/GS
Colorway: Black/Crimson Tint-Hyper Pink-White
Style Code: 555088-081
Region: United States
The Info:
Jordan hits us again with a hot release of its highly sought after, Jordan 1 High OG model. This particular release features a Black/Pink upper, which is color blocked similarly to the “Bred” colorway that most Jordan 1 enthusiasts love.
As far as release details, the shoe is retailing for the normal $160 and will also come in GS sizes for $120. At the time of this episode, Nike SNKRS app will be releasing the shoe on Friday, April 12, while major retailers such as Footaction, Foot Locker & Champs will be releasing the shoe the following day on Saturday, April 13 via their respective reservation apps and online.
Of course, if any of the information changes, follow us on social media @theretroinsider so you can stay updated.
Yuta Takuman x Nike Air Max 1 (Tokyo Maze)
Retail Price: $150
Size Run: Mens
Colorway: N/A
Style Code: CI1505-001
Region: United States
This particular sneaker is a part of pack comprised of sneakers designed by different people from various parts of the world. Seeing as how the Air Max 1 is my favorite Nike retro runner silhouette, the “Tokyo Maze” shoe instantly caught my attention.
The upper is entirely wrapped in a black/white pattern, includes tie-dye shoelaces and an all-black midsole that comes together to make this sneaker a natural neck-breaker.
As it stands, this seems to be a Nike SNKRS app exclusive, that will set you back $150 dollars and will be released on April, 13 at 9am CST.
