A Detailed Look At The New Balance 997 "Coastal Pack" [Video]

Initial Impressions:

Here are a few of my initial thoughts after unboxing this New Balance 997 “Coastal Pack”. A full written review of this shoe will be posted after I’ve had more time to analyze the shoe.

  • Who said men can’t wear pink? Even though this shoe is adorned in a lot of pink, it’s executed in a way that’s doable for even the most masculine man.

  • The rock detailing on the back heel is a great design touch. I’ve never seen anything like it to be honest.

  • With regards to this shoe's construction, this pair looks a lot better than the last pair of 997s that I unboxed. I like to rave about the “Made in The USA” New Balance and their superior construction, but that last pair had more flaws. It’s good to see this pair was executed properly.

  • I really think the addition of the bright yellow laces really set off the look of the shoe. Anything less, would have been uncivilized.

  • I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again….I wish New Balance would stop stuffing their shoes with paper. Too many times the paper causes a hump in the toe-box which is a deadly sin. Fortunately, this shoe didn’t get affected, but it does happen to a lot of pairs that I’ve come across.
