The Air Max 90 is easily one of the world’s most iconic retro running shoes and a fan-favorite for many retro-sneaker lovers. Whether you’re a seasoned sneakerhead or a first-time buyer, our helpful sizing guide is based on real-world information that will help you get the perfect size.
HOW DOES THE AIR MAX 90 FIT?
The OG Air Max 90 fits snug at true-to-size
Going a half-size-up will be the safest sizing choice for most buyers, but keep reading for more insights and sizing suggestions for your foot type and fit preference.
GO 90s, It’s your birthday!!!
In 2020, Nike celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the legendary Air Max 90 (originally named the Air Max III) by releasing a ton of OG and non-OG colorways that had bonafide sneakerheads grinning from ear to ear.
Many of these releases were and still are readily available at many retailers across the glob and can be found below retail.
new shape, who dis?
Without a doubt, the newly re-crafted Nike Air Max 90 takes on a more streamlined shape compared to many of the previous retro styles that have been released prior to 2020.
The shorter toe-box height of the re-crafted Air Max 90 creates a shoe that is more reminiscent of the OG silhouette –which most prefer– but this slight change also affects the shoe’s fit and sizing.
If you’ve purchased Air Max 90s in the past, you may want to consider buying a different size if you want to maintain a similar fit that you’re accustomed to.
ALL SIZES ARE NOT CREATED EQUAL
I’d like to preface this section of the post by saying that it is my belief that there is no one “perfect shoe size”, but actually a “size range” that works best for most people. For me, it’s the US11.5/12 size range that I consistently purchase regardless of brand or silhouette.
With that being said, it is this “size range” assumption that will serve as the foundation of my sizing suggestions and should be something to keep in mind if you choose to take my advice.
for those with Narrow Feet
Go True-to-Size
Buying true to size will be perfect for most narrow footers, but for those who prefer a roomier fit, going up a half-size will be the better option.
for those with Wider Feet
Go Half-Size Up
(At Least)
Generally speaking, Nike is known for their narrow running shoes, so going a half-size up helps wide footers and this is especially true for the Air Max 90. Those who prefer a roomier fit may even find going up a full size to be ideal.
