Jordan Brand Gives The Air Jordan 1 Low Silhouette A Material Makeover!

My Initial Impressions

I’ll start by saying that I don’t wear a lot of pink, so this Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Bleached Coral” release wasn’t a must-have for me, but putting my personal color preferences aside, I’m not mad at this release at all.

Part of me wants to give them a shot simply because this rendition of the Air Jordan 1 Low makes for a great Summer shoe and the color-blocking gives it a clean and classic look.

The Quality

How is the Craftsmanship?

I’ve been pretty critical of Nike/Jordan Brand’s quality control standards and inconsistencies in the past, but I have no complaints about how this particular pair was constructed.

Overall, the stitching was clean and there were no glaring glue stains or material imperfections on either shoe, which is always a relief.

As always, other pairs may not be so fortunate as to have been constructed as well, but that’s just the way the cookie crumbles.

What are the materials like?

Jordans under the $150 mark are hardly ever blessed with top-notch materials, but being that this is an “OG” variant of the AJ1 Low silhouette, which costs slightly more, I can say that the materials on this shoe are acceptable.

Not mind-blowing by any stretch of the imagination, but I’ve definitely seen and felt worse on similarly priced shoes.

Leather: When it comes to the white leather underlays, Jordan Brand opted to go with a smooth leather more reminiscent of the cut found on OG models, which I applaud them on. It’s a step up from basic and what I was expecting.

With regards to the black overlays, many have complained about the crackled texture of the leather, but I’m a fan of it. It doesn’t feel somewhat synthetic, but I like the character it gives the shoe. Whether you like it is all up to you, but I’ll give it a thumbs up.

Suede: If you’re familiar with what the nappy-suede Jordan Brand has used on other releases, you’ll recognize these have the same look and feel. The suede panels come in a nice shade of pink and they don’t feel plush, but still have a decent nap to them, which helps add more visual internet to the shoe.

The Comfort

How Comfortable Is The Air Jordan 1 Low?

There’s not much to write home about when it comes to the comfort of the AJ1. The Air Jordan 1 lows have a midsole cushioning setup that hasn’t been updated since the shoes were originally released back in 1985.

To be completely honest, they don’t feel terrible on feet, but they aren’t a shoe that I would recommend you wear when having to walk or stand for long periods of time.

Fit and Sizing

How Does The New Balance Air Jordan 1 LOW OG Fit?

Generally speaking, the Air Jordan 1 fits comfortably at true-to-size or maybe even a tad long.

I personally wear a US12 in most Jordan and Nike sneakers, but I opt to go down a half-size in Jordan 1s. This is mainly because I like to wear my shoes untied and I want to reduce the infamous toe-creasing that can occur when you wear your AJ1s too big.
