SNEAKER POLL
Quick Hits:
This general release Jordan Retro is scheduled for release on January 30th at major retailers across the United States via app-raffles and first-come, first-served basis depending on the store.
This shoe will come in full-family sizing which means Men’s, Grade-school, Pre-school, and Toddler models will be available.
Although the Jordan 9 isn’t the most hyped silhouette in the Jordan Brand lineup, this is a solid, low-key colorway to start the year. If you’re looking to cop a personal pair, don’t sleep.
Where To Cop
Online (First-Come, First-Served)
Nike SNKRS
Finishline
Jimmy Jazz
Shoe Palace
In-Store App-Raffles
Footlocker (Ends Friday | 3pm CST)
Footaction (Ends Friday | 3pm CST)
Champs (Ends Friday | 3pm CST)
Hibbett Sports (Ends Friday | 3pm CST)
When it comes this shoe’s materials, Jordan brand has opted to go with a familiar mix of materials that include much of what we’ve seen before on Air Jordan 9s.
Smooth Nubuck
Synthetic Suede
Textile Sock-liner
Mesh Tongue
Upper
This rendition of the Air Jordan 9 features a mostly monochromatic upper that’s is dominated black & charcoal. The accents of “University Gold” on the sock liner, heel tab and Jordan branding offer the perfect hint of contrast without being too jarring in my opinion.
Midsole
The all-black midsole contributes to the monochromatic theme and is only contrasted with the “University Gold” Jumpman logo that appears on the heel.
Ever since the start of the pandemic back in early 2020, just about all Jordan retros have performed well on release day. While the hype on this Air Jordan 9 is pretty much non-existent, you can still expect these to do fairly well on release day.
How Will They Release?
Brick-n-mortar retailers like Footlocker, Footaction, Champs, will distribute the shoes in-store via their app-raffles. Entries can be submitted up until Friday, January 29th at 3:15pm CST.
Stores like Finishline, Jimmy Jazz, & Shoe Palace may conduct in-store raffles depending on the location, but you’d have to check with your local retailer for exact details.
Copping Online
Copping online increasingly more difficult due to the use of sneaker bots, but not impossible for less-hyped releases like the “University Gold” 9s.
Having said that, Nike SNKRS may prove to be the best option for those looking to cop manually, with sites like Finishline and Footlocker being the other good alternatives, as well.
You can expect the shoes to drop online at 9am CST on all US sites scheduled to release the shoe, but try getting ready at least 10 minutes early to get in any website queues..
